    Singapore is a great place to shop for all sorts of consumer products. A tax free haven, you can get imported products from every corner of the globe at a great bargain. Its also easy to shop as prices in shops and shopping malls are fixed and discounts are the same for all customers. Shop at exclusive store or open air bazaars in Singapore

     The most famous shopping street in Singapore is Orchard road. This long street is popular with visitors and is a stretch of big shopping malls, arcades, bookshops, cafes and restaurants. Some places where you can dine and shop are Plaza Singapura, Ngee Ann City, Tanglin Mall, Centrepoint, Marina Square, etc. You need to spend at least on whole day there to feel the vibrancy of the place and enjoy shopping till you drop. If you are looking for top end branded and fashion goods, it the place to go. However, prices for branded goods can be quite steep if there is no sales, so look out for the Singapore SALES or sales given by some stores throughout the year, in the local papers in Singapore. There is always one.

     Shop, enjoy a cool drink or a cup coffee at one of the many cafes along the way (such as Starbuck or Coffee Bean) There are numerous restaurants here, many can be located at Ngee Ann City. Taste the many cuisines of Asia and the world over here as you shop. Orchard road is full of activities during the festive seasons. Visit the Tourist Information centre along Orchard Road to get some special discount vouchers, offers, brochures on haw to travel in Singapore.

LATEST SHOPPING DESTINATION IN SINGAPORE!

    The latest shopping - largest retail and lifestyle destination is VIVOCITY, 10 minutes from Orchard Road. Travel to HarbourFront Centre (Where you take the cable car to Sentosa Island) - Get there by MRT North East line, taxi or bus.  For shopping plus entertainment - theatres and dinning, the popular places today is at Marina Bay Sands (more for shoppers who shop for designer labels) and Resort World Sentosa.

     There are night markets but selection of goods are limited .

      To shop for local or more cheaper good, visit some of the shopping centres where locals go. Some housing area have shopping malls along the MRT line or bus interchange (check out Transport options in Singapore or see section below). There are also local shops at some housing estates where there is a bus interchange (e.g. at Ang Mo Kio).   

      The simple and easy way to shop is at shopping arcades or malls along the MRT stops (or nearby) such as at Bishan, Novena, Toa Payoh,  Ang Mo Kio, Woodlands, Orchard, Somerset, City Hall, China Town, Little India, Sembawang, Bugis, Tampines, Jurong, etc. There are shopping malls and restaurants all house under one roof.     

    Some places to go shopping and where there is plenty to see or where you can buy a wide selection of merchandise are places such as China Town, Bugis, Little India, Woodlands, Jurong, etc. China Town, Bugis and Little India are great places to shop for Asian souvenirs or gifts at a low price. Popular affordable shopping places are Bugis Junction located above Bugis MRT Station, and the open air shopping nearby or Causeway Point in Woodlands. If you are looking for computer or IT products, visit Sim Lim Square or if there is a sales at the Singapore expo.

Shopping at Raffles CityBusiness hours: Shops, shopping mall and supermarkets, usually operate from 10 or 11am to 9 or 10pm

When to Shop:

- Sales and offers given by individual shops.

- Warehouse sales, often held at all over the city. There are always bargains held all over the island, often at the Singapore expo. or check the local papers in Singapore.

- Don't miss the Great Singapore Sales, which is held usually between the end of May and end of July, yearly. Its the best time to shop for branded products and to shop at Orchard road, for the fashion conscious.

- Shop at an IT fair (e.g at Singapore expo) if you are interested in it the latest computer or IT products or gismos. IT fair is where you can get great bargains. Or look out and compare prices of at goods at Sim Lim Square.

- To shop for Asian souvenir, go to China Town, Little India or Kampong Gelam and also see the heritage of the people of Singapore. 

- Shop for great and less pricy souvenir items in China Town and Little India

- For trendy fashion items, shop along Orchard Road, Vivocity, Paragon and many more.
